Gori: Cuddly Carnage – A Look At WASD x IGN

A Look At WASD x IGN is our series where we highlight and talk about our favourite indie games that were featured during the WASD x IGN 2023 Event in London.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage is an upcoming hack and slash action-adventure game developed by Angry Demon Studios and published by Wired Productions. You play as Gori, an adorable cat with a spicy and foul-mouthed hoverboard called F.R.A.N.K, who are trying to survive a toy uprising. Gori must battle mutated unicorns, possessed toys, and more, while zipping through the streets on F.R.A.N.K.

Humanity has been destroyed – and it’s up to Gori, along with his deadly but wise-cracking sentient hoverboard, F.R.A.N.K, and morose AI companion, CH1-P, to shred and slay the evil Adorable Army!

So what is going on with these possessed toys? Well, a toy company called ‘Cool-Toyz Inc.’ created a new toy called ‘Ultra Pets’. They were branded to be the ultimate companions, however a mutation happened that transformed these perfect pets into twisted toys who want to wipe out humanity.

The demo starts with you being introduced to the main characters (Gori, F.R.A.N.K and CH1-P) just before Gori’s ship experiences a hull breach. Gori decides to jump out of his ship along with F.R.A.N.K and CH1-P to a planet below rather than go down with the ship. Upon arriving on the planet you learn that the planet is not safe and full to the brim of the possessed toys.

The game’s core gameplay mechanics revolve around doing tricks on the board while slicing up all of your enemies. Like other hack-and-slash games, killing the enemies with combos and in a timely manner will earn the player a higher score.

The game’s art design in extremely vibrant and colourful, and gives off dystopian cyberpunk vibes. Additionally, the game’s music is amazing at pumping you up and getting you into the rhythm of taking out all the enemy toys. I highly recommend listening to some of the soundtrack that is already available on Angry Demon’s Youtube channel.

Overall, if you are a fan of the hack and slash genre, Gori: Cuddly Carnage needs to be on your must play list. If you want a fun action-packed platforming game with a murderous kitten and a foul-mouthed skateboard then look no further.

The demo is super fun and honestly makes you crave more of this world and characters. Make sure you keep an eye on the games Steam page to see when the demo next goes live.
