6 Tips for Beginners in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

The long awaited Hello Kitty Island Adventure has finally been released away from Apple Arcade and is now available on Nintendo Switch and Steam on PC. As a huge fan of cosy games and the Sanrio brand, I was super excited to see the game finally arrive on other platforms.

As I had never played the game while it was on Apple Arcade, I had to start the game from the beginning with no prior knowledge. I have been playing now for over a week and have compiled a list if tips that I feel could help other players not feel overwhelmed in this new adventure.

So without further ado, here are 6 tips that I think beginner players in the world of Hello Kitty Island Adventure could use. 💖

Character Creation Isn’t Set In Stone
Have no fear, you can change your character easily.

Character creation can often be a lengthy and overwhelming process in any game, and while in some games character customization is permanent, Hello Kitty Island Adventure isn’t unforgiving. There is no need to stress over character customization in this game as it can always be adjusted afterward at any mirror.

Not only can you change your character customization, but it is encouraged as when you level up your friendships with the other Sanrio islanders, you will unlock new colours that you can use to change your characters looks.

Gift Everyday
Build Friendships with the islanders

Don’t neglect your Sanrio neighbours! Each character has a friendship level and as it grows, new rewards unlock.

One of the easiest ways to level up a friendship level with a character is by giving them gifts that they like. Each character can receive three gifts every day. Make sure to make the rounds every day and give everyone their three gifts to level up friendship faster and more efficiently.

Hunt Down Mailboxes (and ziplines)
Travel In Style

The overworld map can feel a bit overwhelming at first glance, however the games does have fast travel. The mailboxes in Hello Kitty Island Adventure act as the game’s teleport points.

After unlocking a mailbox, players can then use it as many times as they wish to fast travel around the island. When happily exploring the island for the first time, make sure to keep an eye out for all the mailboxes; they will make it easy to fast travel afterward.

Prioritize Tools & Equipment
Unlock Crafting Recipes

Right from the beginning of the game, the are tons of quests to be completed. However, it is always best to try and prioritize the quests that require a tool or equipment. Any quest that requires the player to use a specific type of equipment or tool will lead the player to acquire it or the crafting plans to make one for themselves, which will help advance the game.

Scavenge Everyday
Make Sure To Take A Stroll Around The Island

All the resources found around the island only respawn once every 24 hours. Make sure scavenging is a part of your daily activities as it ensures players will have the items they need for both gifting and crafting. If there are any resources left on the island, they will simply disappear at the reset time. Don’t let these rare resources go to waste.

Be Patient
Do Not Time Travel.

If you have played Animal Crossing before then you may know the art of time travel. Time travel entails manually changing the clock on the console to fool the game into thinking the adjusted time is the correct time, seeing up things like crop growths, seasonal events, and more. However, time travel is strongly discouraged in Hello Kitty Island Adventure as it may break the game!
