Sticky Business – A Cosy Experience and Creative Outlet

A game I found that I was instantly drawn to during the most recent The Wholesome Direct was Sticky Business. From the cute pixel art graphics, to the idea of owning my own sticker business, I was in love and knew I needed this game.

In Sticky Business, you create your very own online Sticker Business. After naming your shop (I called mine Cat Is Loaf), you are instantly placed into a sticker creator where you use the different parts provided to make your very first sticker. There are a handful of different sizing options and occasionally you can change the colour of certain pieces, you can name your sticker, and then decide what kind of paper you want your sticker printed on.

Experience the joy of running your own cozy small business: Create stickers, pack orders and hear your customers’ stories. Time to build the cutest shop on the internet!

Creating stickers takes up a certain amount of your in game day. Once you have your stickers, you place them on sticker sheets to print out which costs coins. Online orders come in, you fill them, and you ship them out. These actions also take up your in game time.

Once you start your new day at your shop, your first order of business should be to pack any orders that came in. You can add extras to your orders, like adding shredded paper, decorative tissue paper, or sweets, to give the orders a cosy and home-made feel. When you have packed all your orders you can head to the mailbox to post them all out.

During the day you can also upgrade your sticker selection by increasing space for sticker designs, getting new sticker options, new colours, and more sticker backings for the printer. If you feel you have run out of things to do or the day ends, you can head to bed and wait for it all to start again the next day.

Some customers will give you little sneak peaks about their lives and situations when they place orders with you. They can even send in requests with what sort of stickers they would like to see from you in the future which I find very cute. You can create the stickers that they request but there is no obligation too as I found that your customers will buy your stickers, regardless of the designs you create. The one downside I felt is that I would have loved the ability to change the colours in all sticker parts, rather than only some offering the ability.

Sticky Business is an incredibly delightful game to play when you feel inspired, or feel like you need a moment to breathe and relax. Coming home from work and booting the game up on the Steam Deck and creating a few stickers became a highlight of my day, and allowed me to de-stress and zone out while also letting me be creative.

I am a part of a few discord channels, and one server I take part in a lot is the Safe In Our World – a Mental Health Video Game Charity discord channel. It has been lovely to see a lot of the SioW community share their stickers that they have created. It is just extremely wholesome that a single player game can still create a community feel and experience.

Sticky Business is a perfect cosy and creative outlet for players. The game is very simple in premise but I find the experience can offer a lot for players who just want a quick cosy hit. I had a lot of fun creating my stickers, and I also love seeing the community of Sticky Business players share their sticker designs online for other people to see and appreciate.

I played Sticky Business on Steam with a review copy. The game is available now on Steam.
