6 Demo’s You NEED To Check Out During Steam Next Fest – June 2024

This week is the return of Steam Next Fest. In case you are unfamiliar with Steam Next Fest, it is an online event which is usually held around three times a year, which allows developers and publishers to show their upcoming games with demo’s and new information.

Like usual, this event is packed to the brim with some amazing indie games. I have scoured the demo’s and put together a list of 6 upcoming titles that I really adore and would love to share with you.

So without further ado, let’s dive right in!

Cat Quest 3

First up we have Cat Quest 3. This is the third game in the Cat Quest series which sees you play as a cat adventurer, exploring a whole world filled with dungeons, quests and cats.

In Cat Quest 3 you play as a privateer, exploring the ocean and islands swarmed with Pi-rats… get it? Sail the seas in your ship for treasures galore in either solo or local co-op.

The Cat Quest series of games is one of my favourites and I have spent countless hours on both the first two games. If you are looking for a new cat themed open-world action RPG, then check out Cat Quest today!

Crypt Custodian

Keeping with the cat theme, next up we have Crypt Custodian. Crypt Custodian is a charming metroidvania about cleaning up the afterlife. Play as Pluto – a mischievous cat who has died, and is sentenced to be the afterworld’s janitor. Hang out with other doomed ghosts, battle beasts, and explore a vastly expansive landscape.

Now any indie game featuring cats usually catches my eye pretty quickly, and this game is no exception. To add, the artstyle is stunning and the gameplay and combat is so smooth that it was a delight to play! Don’t delay in checking out the demo for yourselves.

Tiny Glade

After all that adventuring, I think it is now time to step into some relaxing building games. Tiny Glade is a relaxing and cosy game about building castles. Explore gridless building chemistry, and watch the game carefully assemble every brick, pebble and plank. There’s no management, combat, or wrong answers – just kick back and turn forgotten meadows into lovable dioramas.

As someone who grew up in Wales, I have seen a heck of a lot of castles in my life but I never imagined I would ever play a game where I could create castles. This is such a cosy experience and if you enjoy wholesome town building sims then Tiny Glade will be right up your street.

Monterona

Next up we have another beautiful building sim called Monterona. Build and decorate cute little streets from your Italian grandma’s stories. Colourful houses, inventive decorations, and little citizens are waiting for you! Share your creations and explore how others build the same stories.

One of my favourite features of this building game is that you can go into first person mode and walk around on the streets that you built. I think it is such a unique idea and really makes your street come alive. I highly recommend checking our Monterona.

Urban Jungle

Now it is time for a game for all the plant lovers! This is Urban Jungle. Turn your home into a green haven. Decorate your small apartment with plants and turn your home into a beautiful safe space filled with greenery. Find the best place for each plant and enjoy gardening without worries. Oh and did I forget to mention there is also a cat you can pet?

Tidying and organising spaces in games can fill you with a lot of serotonin and Urban Jungle is no exception, allowing you to create a perfect space for you and your cat. If you enjoy games like Unpacking, Urban Jungle is a must look at.

Just Crow Things

To wrap up the list I thought we could add a little bit of chaos. Say hello to Just Crow Things. You’re a little crow trying to prove herself to the world. Make new animal friends, poop on unsuspecting humans, and steal all the shiny trinkets! Each level is a little sandbox full of fun items to discover and puzzles to solve, while leaving a bit of chaos behind.

I am a huge fan of these sort of chaotic vibe games. They are so much fun and a great way to unleash your inner chaos gremlin into these little worlds. Make sure you check out Just Crow Things today and support your inner mayhem!

All of these games have demo’s available right now on Steam. Make sure you check them out, wishlist them and support them via their social medias.
