5 Upcoming Cosy Indie Games Coming To Nintendo Switch

I love indie games. I find that they have a very unique charm to them that I feel a lot of AAA games usually miss. Alongside playing these games, I love talking about them and sharing the love of these passion products from amazing independent studios.

I believe that indie games really shine on the Nintendo Switch console, allowing both a handheld and home console experience can allow these games to be experienced in different ways by different audiences.

I have collected a handful of beautiful and cosy feeling indie games that are due to come to Nintendo Switch this year.

Tin Hearts
Developer: Rogue Sun | Publisher: Wired Productions

“Behind every brilliant invention, hides an incredible story. From members of the team that brought you Fable, comes Tin Hearts – an immersive puzzle adventure game wrapped in a powerful tale of love and compromise.”

As many people here know, I am a big fan of the games that Wired Productions publish, and Tin Hearts by the team over at Rogue Sun is no exception. This game gives me very strong Lemmings feels, and the little soldiers are just adorable. The game also won Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Game award at Gamescom last year, so this title is definitely one to keep your eyes on.

Mineko’s Night Market
Developer: Meowza Games | Publisher: Humble Bundle

“Mineko’s Night Market is a narrative-driven, social simulation adventure game that celebrates Japanese culture while encouraging players to craft, eat, and ultimately enjoy all the cats. Befriend and barter with dozens of townsfolk at the weekly Night Market to sell almost anything you can make and find. Help your neighbours and restore the struggling village back to its former glory!”

I have been looking forward to Mineko’s since a Nintendo Indies Direct back in 2018. I may be biased as the game does feature a lot of cats, but for those gamers who love games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, I think this game would be right up that street. I absolutely adored everything shown about the game, I mean, it has got cats and crafting mechanics… what more could you want in a game?

Mail Time
Developer: Kela van der Deijl, Appelmoes Games | Publisher: Freedom Games

“It’s Mail Time! As a newly trained Mail Scout, put on your pack, grab those letters, and deliver them across Grumblewood Grove! The forest animals eagerly await the sight of your mushroom hat in this cozy, cottagecore light-platformer adventure!”

Back in June 2022, Wholesome Games hosted their own little direct full of adorably cute indie games that will be coming soon and Mail Time was one of those titles that got me really excited. Everything about the idea of this game and the aesthetics is so pleasing to me. I really recommend following Kela (the developer) on Twitter to see all the news on this title.

Fall of Porcupine
Developer: CRITICAL RABBIT | Publisher: Assemble Entertainment

“New jobs can be tense – especially when you’re about to become a doctor! Join Finley on an original narrative adventure as you take your first steps in a new and exciting world in the sleepy town of Porcupine.”

I remember watching coverage of Gamescom last year and seeing a very cute little Pigeon mascot walking around and I instantly had to know what this game was about, especially if a pigeon is involved. After looking into Fall of Porcupine, I found it also gave me very strong Night In The Woods vibes which was one of favourite indie games from a few years ago so I am really looking forward to see what this game has to offer when it releases.

Critter Crops
Developer: SkyReach Studio | Publisher: Freedom Games

“Sylvie is a young witch, banished from home for her magic. A mysterious letter brings her to Mur Mur Town, an abandoned, spooky place where a bountiful life awaits her! Grow magical crops, unlock the mysteries of Mutter Island, and build a new home for an aspiring witch and her friends!”

Another game I saw on the Wholesome Games Direct back in June 2022, Critter Crops combines two of my favourite things into one, Halloween and cute little critters. The idea of a pumpkin cat just made me shriek with excitement. If you love farming simulators and cute aesthetics, I really recommend keeping your eye out for this one.
