4 Halloween Updates in your Favourite Nintendo Games (2023 Edition)

Halloween! My favourite season of the year, and it may possible be yours too. Whether you live for anything and everything Halloween or just enjoy the different updates your games can get for the season – Halloween is a time for celebrating. 🦇

So, what Nintendo games have updates? Below you will find a mixture of brand new Halloween Updates for this year, and events that have been brought back from previous years. So what are you waiting for? Let’s get festive! 🎃

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

I am super into Pokémon Scarlet and Violet right now. Back when the games first released, I just didn’t gel with them for some reason, but now I absolutely love them. After completing the main story and the PokeDex, I mainly shiny hunt in the game now, and I live stream my attempts on my twitch channel as well. (cheeky ad – come follow me).

Last Sunday I announced on stream that I will be partaking in a charity livestream event on Sunday 29th October to raise money for Safe In Our World – a mental health video games charity, and I will be trying to catch as many shiny ghost-type Pokémon as I can.* Well, a few hours after I announced this, Pokémon announced they are starting a ghost-type event in Scarlet and Violet.

Starting on Thursday October 26th, you will be able to battle the magical Mismagius in Tera Raid Battles, and there will be gatherings of Ghost-type Pokémon in a Mass Outbreak event!

From the Mass Outbreaks you will be able to find Mimikyu, Greavard, Phantump and Drifloon. These Pokémon also have a chance of possessing the Crafty Mark.

Will you be catching some ghost Pokémon to celebrate the season?

Splatoon 3

Splatoon 3 is also taking part in the spooky festivities with a brand new Splatfest! Who would you rather be friends with – a Zombie, Skeleton or a Ghost?

Pick from either Team Zombie, Skeleton or Ghost, and splat it out in a supernatural Splatoween starting on Saturday 28th October until Monday 30th October, 00:00 (UK time).

I haven’t played Splatoon for a good while, so I think this may be a good time to revisit the game, as I really do enjoy what Splatoon has to offer. Plus I have a bit of a craving for some Salmon Run.

Pokémon Unite

Here is some more Halloween news for all you Pokémon Fans out there, and this time it is with Pokémon Unite.

Halloween has returned to Mer Stadium. In this event, you forfeit your battle item in exchange for a Pumpkin Toss, which allows you to either stun wild Pokémon or transform an enemy Pokémon into a pumpkin. If you get turned into a pumpkin, you drop a large amount of the balls you have been carrying, so this item can really be a game changer.

Alongside the Pumpkin-packed Quick Battle Mode, Mimikyu has also joined the fray. Mimikyu is a brand new Melee All-Rounder class Pokémon.

This event runs until Sunday 12th November. Will you be winning some battles with Mimiku this Halloween?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Jack, the czar of Halloween will return to your island on October 31st! Like every other year, Jack will be hiding somewhere on your island from 5pm until midnight (local time). So, be sure to talk to him and bring some candy!

Nothing has changed from previous years in terms of Halloween for Animal Crossing. However, the event can still be fun if you have taken a break from the game for a while, and it is good for new players of the game too.
